What does this actually cost me, and when do I pay?
You reward your supporters your way — cash, or a perk you honor in person like a waived service call or a free haircut.
On top of that, Nice Work charges a flat $5 each time a referral turns into a completed, paid job — and that's the whole bill. No deposits, nothing to pay to “unlock,” and if nobody new ever comes along, you owe nothing.
Why pay Nice Work $5 to reward my customer when I could just do it myself?
You could — and if you want to hand a good customer twenty bucks yourself, go right ahead. Doing it by hand just means remembering who sent who, keeping track of every promise, and squaring up the cash whenever the job finally closes.
For $5, Nice Work carries all of that. We follow the referral from the first tap to the paid invoice and send the reward the moment the work is done — no spreadsheet, no shoebox of IOUs, no trying to recall who's owed what.
And your supporters get a real tool to refer you with — a personal link and card they can text to a friend or drop on social — instead of just saying your name and hoping it lands.
How can you charge just $5 a referral when other platforms take a percentage plus a monthly fee?
We're a family of software developers with people we love in the trades — so we built this ourselves, and we don't have a building full of suits to feed.
Look at what the other guys take — booking apps skim up to 30% of a new client's first visit, and lead-gen sites charge $15 to $100 a lead, then sell that same lead to your competitors. You pay a monthly fee whether it brings you a soul or not.
Here, you pay a flat $5, only when a referral actually pays off. We do things a little differently around here.
Some of my customers already refer me for free — why would I start rewarding them?
The people already sending you business are the ones worth thanking. And the free word-of-mouth stays free — if a neighbor mentions your name and the friend looks you up, there's no charge.
A reward is for the recommendation that wouldn't have happened on its own — it gives your best customers a reason to remember you when a friend asks, and a first-visit offer that turns “I should call someone” into a booked job.
You only pay the flat $5 plus your reward after that friend books and pays. So you're paying for new work, not for what you already had.
How does a referral get marked complete — and what stops a business from skipping it to dodge the $5?
When a referred customer comes in, you scan their pass. Prefer hands-off? Connect Jobber, Square, or QuickBooks and it completes on its own when the job's marked paid. Either way, the $5 plus your reward is charged then.
Could you just not scan it? Sure — nothing forces your hand. But the supporter is your happy customer, and stiffing them is how you kill the word-of-mouth you're paying for.
Who sets the reward, and do I have to hand over the cash myself?
The reward is yours to set — cash or a perk you honor in person, like a waived service call or a free haircut. You know your margins better than we ever could, so change it whenever you like.
And you never chase anyone down with cash. When the referred job is done and paid, Nice Work charges you the flat $5 plus the reward and sends the cash to the person who referred you. Picked a perk instead? You just honor it in person next time they're in.
How does my supporter actually get paid?
However they set it up — straight to their bank account or their Venmo. If you picked a perk instead, like a waived service call or a free haircut, you just honor it in person next time they're in.
Is this just lead-gen that sells my info to competitors?
Not a chance. Lead-gen services sell the same “exclusive” lead to five businesses on your block and call it a day.
Nice Work doesn't sell your name, your customers, or your work to anyone — there's no list, no auction, no bidding war.
Your customers are yours, and they recommend you because they mean it.
Is there a contract, or can I cancel?
No contract, no lock-in, and nothing to cancel. If Nice Work isn't earning its keep, you walk away clean — we'd rather earn your stay every month than trap you in a term.
I've got a few techs working under me — is Nice Work a fit for my shop?
The good news first — if you've got a few techs working for you, you're doing great.
Now the bad — Nice Work is built for the solo pro and the one-person shop — the person who does the work themselves. Once you've got a crew of techs or a real ad budget, you don't really need our help anymore. Congrats!
Is there a limit on referrals?
None at all. One neighbor or a hundred — there's no cap and no monthly limit. The more good work you do, the further it can spread.
